Tarikere Sudarshan called home to say he is safe, family relieved

Chikmagaluru, July 03: The family members of Sudarshan from Bukkambudhi of Tarikere taluk who has been to Mansarovar yatra, were anxious as he was in touch with them for the last couple of days. But on Tuesday evening, Darshan called his parents and said he is safe in Tibet. Now, his family members have relieved a sign of relief.
Darshan (28), son of Nanjundaswamy, is living in Bengaluru for the last 7-8 years and working as a priest. On June 21, he left for Mansarovar tour, it is said.
Family members anxious
Darshan has been to Mansarovar under a package tour on June 21. As he was not in touch with the family members for the last two days, the family was anxious. When he called his brother Prashanth on Sunday, he had said that ‘He visited Srinagar, Ladakh and Kailash Parvat. Tomorrow, he would leave for Mansarovar”. But after that, his family members could not contact him.
Speaking to reporters, his brother Prashanth said that his brother went to Amarnath Yatra on June 21. He called him on Sunday and spoke about heavy rains. He said that after visiting Kailash Parvat, he was climbing Amarnath. But later, he was unavailable for the phone. So family members were so anxious, he said.
SP K Annamalai also confirmed that Darshan has called his parents and informed them that he was safe in Tibet.

Second PUC results: Life convict clears exam with distinction, DGP lauds effort

Bengaluru: A life convict lodged in Ballari Central Prison has successfully cleared the second PUC examination.
Ashok Kumar S, who appeared for the examination under prison escort, secured 481 marks out of 600, registering 80.1 percent.
Director General of Police (Prisons and Correctional Services), Alok Kumar (IPS), shared the development on his official ‘X’ handle, commending the inmate’s achievement.
In his post, he stated that it was heartening to see a life convict score over 80 percent in the examination, adding that the inmate had appeared from Ballari Central Prison under escort.

He further noted that the achievement reflected that the “walls of the prison have not subdued his hopes for a better future.”

The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) declared the second PUC results for 2026 on April 9.
A total of 6,32,200 students appeared for the examination across all streams, of whom 5,46,698 passed, recording an overall pass percentage of 86.48 per cent.
