Bengaluru, July 28: Those who talk about dividing the state are fools. They are not aware of the importance of state’s unification movement, said former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Speaking at a function held at Gyan Jyothi auditorium here on Sunday, he said, "Let's discuss more about the development of North Karnataka. But the words regarding the division of the state should not come from anyone.”

“The Kannada Unification Movement took place after the country got independence. At that time,  Kannada unification took place as the result of the continuous struggle of writers, fighters, and political leaders. Those who do not know this history are talking about division. It is not right,” he said.

“The BJP leader Sreeramulu, who is speaking about the division of the state, does not know the history of unification. They should not work to harm the state for their selfishness. Such statements should be stopped right here,” he added.
