Chittoor: Two persons from Karnataka were killed and four others injured after a car rammed into the rear of a lorry near Kothakota flyover in Puthalapattu in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district early Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as Sathish (50) and his wife Bhagyalakshmi (45), residents of Mandya district. The family was travelling to Tirumala in a taxi when the accident occurred, The Hindu reported.

The Puthalapattu circle police said the car, bearing a Karnataka registration number, hit a 10-wheeler lorry as the driver reportedly felt drowsy. Due to the impact of the crash, two occupants of the car were flung out from the broken windows of the car.

Four others in the car, including three children, Mahalakshmi (12), Pavani (10), and Thusara (4), and a relative, Shasank (23), sustained minor injuries.

The injured were shifted to the Government Hospital in Chittoor, while the bodies were moved to the mortuary.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.

The chief minister said the milestone reflected dedication, visionary leadership and tireless commitment to the country's progress and prosperity.

He further said Modi's vision of 'Viksit Bharat by 2047' continues to inspire and guide India toward a brighter future.

He wished the Prime Minister continued strength, good health and success as he leads the nation to even greater heights.
