Bengaluru: The rise in the number of immoral policing by the cops in Bengaluru has raised concerns among the residents of the city. The city police on Friday dismissed two more constables from service for harassing a married couple here in the city.

The incident was reported from Manyata Tech Park when the couple was walking back home earlier in December last year. The two constables had reportedly harassed the couple and forced them to pay Rs. 1,000 through an online payment app.

The cops had reportedly told the couple that they had broken the law by walking on the street after 11. pm. The couple was walking home from a birthday cake-cutting event.

The city police had launched a probe against the allegations by the couple who had reported the incident on Twitter urging the City Police Commissioner to take action against the cops involved.

On Friday the city police the two constables involved in the matter from service.

Earlier last week, a home guard attached to the BBMP was also arrested or harassing a woman and her male friend for sitting “without permission” nearby a lake in the city.

New Delhi: Kanimozhi Karunanidhi has written to the Lok Sabha Speaker seeking a separate seating arrangement for Members of Parliament belonging to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) following the end of the party’s alliance with the Indian National Congress.

In a letter dated May 7 addressed to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Kanimozhi said the changed political situation made it inappropriate for DMK MPs to continue sitting alongside Congress members in the House.

She requested the Speaker to make “suitable changes” in the seating arrangement of the DMK Parliamentary Party and allot separate seating for its MPs.

“In view of the changed political circumstances and as our alliance with the Indian National Congress has come to an end, it may not be appropriate for our Members to continue occupying the present seating arrangement alongside them in the House,” the letter stated.

Kanimozhi further said separate seating would help DMK members effectively discharge their responsibilities in the Lok Sabha.
