Bengaluru: Voting for the 222 constituencies of the Karnataka state Assembly began on Saturday morning, and 10: 51 percent voter turned out by 9: 15 am.
A total of 5.06 crore voters will exercise their right to vote in the state.
Of 224 constituencies, voting is going on in 222 constituencies. While the polling will be held in the Rajarajeshwari city constituency on 28, Jayanagar constituency's voting has been postponed to Friday following the death of a constituency's candidate.
Polling highlights
* Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda arrived at the polling booth with his wife Chennamma and his son Revanna in the Paduvalhippe village of Holenarasipur constituency.
* Chief Electoral Officer Sanjeev Kumar exercised his franchise at Lawrence English School, 9th Main Road of HSR Layout in Bommanahalli Assembly constituency.
* BJP president BS Yeddyurappa voted in Shikaripura in Shimoga district. Before voting, he visited a temple and worshiped.

Kolkata: A massive fire broke out in the Ultadanga area of Kolkata on Sunday morning, leaving more than 10 houses gutted. The fire reportedly started around 7:30 am.
Six fire tenders were deployed to the site to control the fire. Efforts to douse the fire are ongoing, and authorities are yet to confirm the cause of the incident.
