Bengaluru, June 4: “During my college days, I was fond of movies. I used to go to Dr Raj Kumar movies. But my father HD Deve Gowda used to scold me saying that you will not become a good person”, recalls Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy.
Addressing the students after receiving felicitation at the National College auditorium at Jayanagar here on Monday, Kumaraswamy recalled his old memories. “During 1979-80, I was the student of this college. Dr H Narasimhaiah who hailed from a rural family and earned a name and fame had become an inspiration for many. His efforts in building an education institution are commendable”, he said.
“I was sitting in the last bench because of the fear of asking questions by the teachers. I used to become gullible when teachers ask questions. I was a dull student during college days. Even then, I got the seat in this college. I could not forget those days”, he recalled.
“If I had studied well, I would have become an IAS officer. But now, I have become a Chief Minister. I read till 2 am to know the subjects. This would help me do good works for the society”, he said.
Students have talents, but it would not come to the fore. But when they study with clear aim, they would get the results. They should respect the parents, teachers and elders to become good citizens, he advised students.

The victim, identified as Pandu Kariappa Poojary, a resident of Kuthpadi in Udupi, was working at a hotel in Mangaluru.
