Bengaluru: The woman who filed a rape case against BJP MLA Munirathna has alleged that he raped her in his chamber in the Vikasa Soudha, the administrative headquarters of the state, and also in his official car.

The 40-year-old woman claimed that Munirathna raped her repeatedly between 2020 and 2023. She recorded her statement before the magistrate Chandini N., First Additional Civil Judge and Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Nelamangala, on September 19, two days after lodging a rape case against the R.R Nagar BJP MLA at a police station near Bengaluru.

In her statement, she stated that Munirathna had forced her to help him teach a lesson to another woman, who was blackmailing the husband of an IAS officer, who earlier served in the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), as reported by Deccan Herald.

Furthermore, the statement mentioned that Munirathna later got Rs 400 crore released by the IAS officer serving in the BBMP.

The rape survivor has also alleged that Munirathna pressured her to trap the husband of a former BJP councillor with whom he had bitter public dispute.

Earlier this week, Munirathna was remanded in the custody of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for 12 days till October 5.

Amritsar, Nov 24: A bomb-like object was found outside the Ajnala police station near Amritsar on Sunday, police said.

Police sealed the area and pressed a bomb disposal squad into service immediately after getting the information, which sent the object for further investigation, officials said.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Gurwinder Singh, said it would be too early to say anything on the matter, adding that an investigation was underway.
