Shivamogga: A 21-year-old youth died after food reportedly got stuck in his throat during a birthday feast at Channahalli near Kumsi in the taluk.
The deceased has been identified as Sachin.
According to reports, a villager had organised a birthday feast near a house under construction on the outskirts of the village. Sachin had taken his meal and gone inside the building where work was in progress. Later, after others finished eating, they returned home.
The incident came to light on Friday morning when workers arrived at the site and found Sachin lying dead. His family members later took the body home.
On receiving information, Kumsi police visited the spot and shifted the body for post-mortem examination. Police said Sachin had consumed alcohol and died after a chicken bone got lodged in his throat.
A case has been registered at Kumsi Police Station.

Virudhunagar (PTI): More than 10 workers were feared dead following a blast in a firecrackers manufacturing unit near here and some others were severely injured, police said.
The blast occurred when about 30 workers were engaged in routine manufacturing related processes at the firecrackers unit at Kattanarpatti near here, they said adding portions of the building too collapsed under the impact.
