Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai has said that an investigation will be held into the audio clip of Chittapur BJP candidate Manikant Rathore allegedly discussing an assassination plot against family members of All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Mallikarjuna Kharge.

The husband of a local corporator was shot dead by miscreants at Chandapura Colony in the city on Saturday morning. The deceased has been identified as Hyder Ali Nadaf, husband of the representative of Ward 19 of the Vijayapura City Corporation. 

An assassination plot has been hatched to wipe out' Congress President M Mallikarjun Kharge, his wife and his entire family by a BJP candidate, the party general secretary and Karnataka in charge Randeep Singh Surjewala alleged on Saturday.

Karnataka Congress chief D K Shivakumar Saturday exuded confidence that his party would win over 140 seats in the May 10 assembly polls and asserted that he would abide by whatever the party decides on the issue of chief ministership.

Congress leader Jagadish Shettar has accused Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai of considering joining the Congress party in 2012. Shettar made the allegations during a rally in Dharwad while campaigning for Vinay Kulkarni, the Congress candidate from Dharwad constituency.

Bengaluru: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi gears up for a roadshow in Bengaluru as part of the BJP's election campaign, two rights groups in Karnataka have prepared an alternative route map known as the "citizens' route map." The groups, Bahutva Karnataka and Eddelu Karnataka, are urging the Prime Minister to avoid the roadshow and instead visit the "sites of injustices" in the city. According to the groups, the citizens' route map highlights the issues of marginalized communities and seeks to draw attention to the need for urgent action.
