Bengaluru: BJP MP and former Union Minister V Srinivas Prasad has announced his retirement from politics, and said he would not be contesting in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

In a major development, Hoodi Vijay Kumar, who was denied a ticket in BJP's second list, has announced that he will contest as an independent. Meanwhile, his supporters have removed banners and photos of PM Modi placed in their offices and are resigning in masses from various posts of the BJP.

Kanthesh, son of former Minister K S Eshwarappa, on Thursday met former Chief Minister and BJP Parliamentary Board member BS Yediyurappa. He held talks with him for some time. With the filing of nominations for the Karnataka assembly polls beginning from Thursday, the BJP has so far named 212 candidates for the May 10 elections to the 224-member House.
