Jnanpith awardee, senior writer Dr. Chandrashekhar Kambar was selected as the President of the Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelan to be held at Dharwad in December.

Heavy rains continued to lash Bengaluru and surrounding districts in Karnataka, inundating several localities and disrupting normal life, authorities said on Thursday.

Kolar: Four persons of Kolar were killed on the spot in a collision between a Tata Indica car and Tata Somu at Aniganahalli in Bangarpete taluk in the district on Thursday morning. 

The rain which disappeared from Kodagu district for the last three weeks appeared on Wednesday hitting hard some parts of the district. 

As school children, the state government has decided to give uniforms to Anganwadi children, for which the Woman and Child Welfare department has prepared a proposal.
