Bengaluru: The State government’s move to clear the State Policy for Transgenders (2017) and subsequent awareness drives by organisations, working for the welfare of the community, have helped mobilise many transgender voters this year.

The BJP on Monday released fourth list of seven candidates for the May 12 elections to the 224-member Karnataka Assembly.

Mysuru:  The much-expected proxy battle between Congress chief minister Siddaramaiah and BJP's chief ministerial candidate BS Yeddyurappa from Varuna has been called off. The seat, represented by Mr Siddaramaiah, has gone to son, Dr Yatheendra, who is making his debut in politics. It was expected that he would contest against Mr Yeddyurappa's son.

Tumkur: President of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee G. Parameshwara filed his nomination papers from Koratagere Assembly constituency on Monday.

Bengaluru:  Lokayukta Justice Vishwanath Shetty, who was stabbed by one Tej Raj Sharma on March 7 and underwent treatment at a private hospital, returned to office on Monday.
