An eight-year-old girl studying in Class 2 of the government school at Chinamagera of Afzalpur taluk, who had fallen into a vessel of hot sambar on Thursday, died at the Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru early Sunday morning.

BJP leader Manikanth Rathod and his friend Shrikanth Sulegaon were assaulted with beer bottles by unidentified persons at around midnight on Saturday near the Shankarwadi Cross on the National Highway 150 at Malagatti in Chittapur taluk.
