In the wake of a recent stone pelting incident in Ragigudda, Shivamogga, District Superintendent of Police Mithun Kumar announced that 60 individuals have been arrested, and 24 cases have been registered in connection with the violence. Kumar issued a media release detailing the aftermath of the incident.

In a recent judgment, the Karnataka High Court has ruled that insisting an individual repay a borrowed loan does not constitute abetment to commit suicide under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Justice Shivashankar Amarannavar clarified that mere harassment or demands for loan repayment, lacking the intent to drive the person to suicide, do not qualify as abetment.

In a collision between a lorry and a two-wheeler in Koratagere taluk of Tumkur district resulted in the loss of three lives from the same family. The victims have been identified as Anita Bai, Pawan, and Balaji, residents of Virenahalli Tanda in Madhugiri Taluk.

Karnataka BJP leaders on Monday accused the Congress government of failing to maintain law and order, following the stone-pelting incident in the district headquarters town of Shivamogga on Sunday evening.

The situation in Ragi Gudda area in the district headquarters town of Shivamogga, where prohibitory orders have been clamped after tension during the Eid Milad procession and alleged incidents of stone pelting, is now peaceful and under control, police said on Monday.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday said more than 40 miscreants have been arrested in connection with the stone-pelting incident in Shivamogga and cases booked against them.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Sunday said the state has filed a petition before the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) seeking a review of its order on the release of river water to neighbouring Tamil Nadu.
