Scientists detect “strongest evidence till date” of life outside our solar system

Astronomers have reported the strongest evidence yet of potential biological activity on a distant planet named K2-18b, located about 124 light-years away from Earth. The planet, which is more than twice the size of Earth, has shown signs of atmospheric molecules that, on Earth, are produced only by living marine organisms.

New study suggests organic molecules on Ceres came from Asteroids, not volcanoes

Recent findings from NASA's Dawn spacecraft have led scientists to reconsider how organic molecules ended up on the dwarf planet Ceres. Previously, it was believed that cryovolcanic activity—volcanoes that erupt icy materials—in Ceres' interior brought these organic compounds to the surface. However, new research from the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research (MPS) in Germany suggests a different origin.

Interstellar visitor may have altered planetary orbits in Solar System, say scientists

A group of scientists has proposed that a massive interstellar object, potentially eight times the size of Jupiter, might have dramatically influenced the orbits of planets in our solar system. The study, currently published on the arXiv preprint database but not yet peer-reviewed, suggests that this celestial intruder passed close to where Mars orbits today, reshaping the paths of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
