New Delhi: AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday slammed senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi on one of her tweets on the eve of Bhumi Pujan on Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Owaisi took to Twitter and accused the Congress of making contributions to the movement “that demolished Babri Masjid”. Owaisi advised Priyanka to be proud of those contributions adding that he was glad that they have stopped pretending now.

"Glad that they are not pretending anymore. It's okay if they want to embrace this extremist ideology of Hindutva but why all this hollow talk about brotherhood? Don't be shy, please be proud of your party's contributions to the movement that demolished our Babri Masjid," Owaisi wrote on Twitter while replying to Priyanka’s tweet.

Earlier, Priyanka in a statement released across her social media handles had hoped that August 5 Bhum Pujan will spread the ethos of Lord Ram.

"Simplicity, courage, restraint, sacrifice, commitment, are the essence of the name Ram. Ram is with everyone, Ram is within everyone. With the message and grace of Lord Ram and Mother Sita, may the Bhoomi poojan ceremony of the temple of Ramlalla became an occasion for national unity, fraternity and cultural congregation," Gandhi said in a tweet in Hindi, concluding the statement with a 'Jai Siya Ram'.

Udupi: Udupi City Police have registered a case of online fraud after a 62-year-old hotel chef was allegedly cheated of Rs 1.13 lakh by a woman who befriended him on WhatsApp, claiming to be based in London.
The victim, identified as Pandu Kariappa Poojary, a resident of Kuthpadi in Udupi, was working at a hotel in Mangaluru.

He reportedly came into contact with a woman identifying herself as Emilda William on WhatsApp. During their interactions, she told Poojary that she planned to start a cosmetics and hotel business in India and would meet him during a visit to Mangaluru.
On April 7, Emilda sent Poojary a flight ticket from London to Delhi via WhatsApp. The following day, Poojary received a phone call from a woman who informed him that Emilda had arrived at Delhi airport carrying a demand draft worth Rs 5 crore along with other items. The caller allegedly asked him to pay Rs 70,000.
Subsequently, Poojary also received a call from Emilda, who was reportedly crying and spoke about the situation. Believing the claims, he transferred a total of Rs 1,13,300 in phases using a scanner. He later realised that he had been cheated.
