Bengaluru: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President JP Nadda on Friday issued a statement expressing condemnation for the appalling incident involving a tribal woman who was paraded naked in Belagavi, Karnataka. Nadda strongly condemned the incident and attributed the rise in such heinous crimes, particularly against women, to the governance of the Congress party in the state.

According to Nadda, this incident highlights the irresponsible behavior of the Congress government in Karnataka when it comes to addressing and preventing such crimes. To delve into the matter further, Nadda has formed a five-member fact-finding committee that will visit the site of the incident and subsequently submit its report to the party's national president.

The committee comprises four Members of Parliament - Arpita Sarangi, Sunita Duggal, Locket Chatterjee, Ranjeeta Koli - and the party's national secretary, Dr. Asha Lakra.

Former Karnataka Minister and the party's national secretary, CT Ravi, shared the statement on social media. However, this move was met with criticism from netizens who questioned the selective outrage exhibited by Nadda and BJP leaders. Specifically, they pointed out the absence of similar statements or condemnations for a comparable incident in Manipur.

Netizens raised concerns whether the silence from BJP leaders was due to the victim's Christian identity or because the BJP was in power in Manipur. This led to accusations of selective condemnation and politicization of incidents based on political affiliations.

Critics also reminded Nadda and CT Ravi that the Congress government in Karnataka, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, took timely action and implemented measures following the incident. They contrasted this with the BJP's response during a similar incident in Manipur under its governance, where the party remained silent and inactive.

Furthermore, social media users questioned CT Ravi's delayed response to the incident, emphasizing that he only posted a tweet after the national president issued a statement, especially given Ravi's connection to Karnataka.
