Social media platform X experiences brief outage affecting thousands of users

New Delhi: Social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) experienced a brief outage on Tuesday, with over 36,500 reports of issues in the United States, according to Downdetector, a website that tracks outages by collecting status reports from multiple sources.

The outage also affected users in Canada and the UK, with over 3,300 and 1,600 reports, respectively. Many users reported being unable to load new posts or refresh their feeds, with the majority of issues occurring on the app. The cause of the outage has not been confirmed.

This incident follows a previous disruption during a Spaces conversation between X owner Elon Musk and former US President Donald Trump, which Musk attributed to a “massive” cyber-attack. Since Musk’s $44 billion acquisition of the platform, X has been prone to various technical glitches and outages.

The latest outage lasted less than an hour and was resolved immediately.

Four killed, 15 injured in explosion at power plant in Chhattisgarh

Sakti (Chhattisgarh), Apr 14 (PTI): Four workers were killed and 15 others injured in an explosion at a power plant in Chhattisgarh's Sakti district on Tuesday, police said, adding that some workers are feared trapped at the site.

According to preliminary information, the blast occurred in a boiler tube at the Vedanta Limited power plant in Singhitarai village in the afternoon, a senior police officer said.

"Four workers have died, and 15 others sustained injuries," said Prafull Thakur, Superintendent of Police, Sakti district.

Soon after receiving information, local administration and police teams rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations.

The injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment, while rescue efforts are underway amid fears that some workers may still be trapped at the site, the officer added.
