England beat Bangladesh by 137 runs in World Cup
Dharamsala (PTI): Defending champions England returned to winning ways with a 137-run win over Bangladesh in their second World Cup game here on Tuesday.
Sent in to bat, Dawid Malan hit a superb 140, while Jonny Bairstow (52) and Joe Root (82) slammed half-centuries to power England to a formidable 364 for 9.
In reply, Bangladesh folded up for 227 in 48.2 overs with Litton Das (76) and Mushfiqur Rahim (51) doing bulk of the scoring.
Reece Topley (4/43) claimed four wickets, while Chris Woakes (2/49) snapped two.
Earlier, Malan and Root added 151 for the second wicket after the former and Bairstow (52 off 59 balls, 8x4s) had put on 115 runs for the opening wicket.
Mahedi Hasan was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh with figures of 8-0-71-4, while left-arm seamer Shoriful Islam claimed three wickets.

Tension in Koppal village over Ambedkar flag during fair; five arrested
Koppal: Tension prevailed in Halwarti village of Koppal taluk after a clash reportedly broke out between members of Dalit and upper-caste communities over the hoisting of an Ambedkar flag during the Beeralingeshwara fair.
According to police, a verbal argument between youths from the two communities escalated into a physical confrontation, leading to unrest in the village.
In a related development, it has been alleged that members of the upper-caste community entered the house of a Dalit youth, identified as Gavisiddappa Hosamani, damaged the door and vandalised the front portion of the house.
As a precautionary measure, additional police personnel have been deployed in the village to maintain law and order.
Police said a complaint has been registered at the Koppal Rural Police Station and five persons have been arrested in connection with the incident. Further investigation is under way.
