Hyderabad: In a gesture of solidarity, Pakistani wicketkeeper-batsman Muhammad Rizwan dedicated his match-winning century against Sri Lanka in the ongoing ODI World Cup to the people of Gaza, who are currently under attack from Israel.

After leading Pakistan to a historic victory, Rizwan expressed his support for the people of Gaza through his social media account.

On his X account (formerly Twitter), Rizwan stated, "This was for our brothers and sisters in Gaza. Happy to contribute to the win. Credits to the whole team and especially Abdullah Shafique and Hassan Ali for making it easier. Extremely grateful to the people of Hyderabad for the amazing hospitality and support throughout."

In the face of a challenging target of 345 runs, Pakistan managed to achieve the highest successful chase in the history of the ODI World Cup. Rizwan's remarkable knock of 131, combined with Abdullah Shafique's contribution of 113 runs, played a crucial role in Pakistan's historic win.

Koppal: Tension prevailed in Halwarti village of Koppal taluk after a clash reportedly broke out between members of Dalit and upper-caste communities over the hoisting of an Ambedkar flag during the Beeralingeshwara fair.

According to police, a verbal argument between youths from the two communities escalated into a physical confrontation, leading to unrest in the village.

In a related development, it has been alleged that members of the upper-caste community entered the house of a Dalit youth, identified as Gavisiddappa Hosamani, damaged the door and vandalised the front portion of the house.

As a precautionary measure, additional police personnel have been deployed in the village to maintain law and order.

Police said a complaint has been registered at the Koppal Rural Police Station and five persons have been arrested in connection with the incident. Further investigation is under way.
