Tel Aviv: Seven were reported dead in northern Israel on Thursday after a series of cross-border rocket attacks by Hezbollah. Among the dead were four foreign workers and three Israelis. Israel also launched strikes targeting Hezbollah positions in Lebanon and Syria, killing 24 people in Lebanon, according to Lebanese health officials.

The rocket attacks targeted the town of Metula and Haifa. Shortly after, Israel’s military reported a barrage of approximately 25 rockets from Lebanon, which resulted in more fatalities and injuries in northern Israel.

In Gaza, an Israeli airstrike severely damaged one of the last functioning hospitals, causing injuries to medical staff and destroying essential supplies. The World Health Organization condemned the attacks, calling for international action to safeguard medical facilities.

Meanwhile, the UN agency UNRWA reported that its office in the Nur Shams camp in the West Bank sustained extensive damage following an Israeli bulldozer incursion.

Nagpur (PTI): A student from Maharashtra drowned and another went missing after venturing into the sea in Chennai, officials said on Sunday.

It was not yet known which institution the students were from and where exactly the incident occurred.

The Maharashtra government has appealed to the Tamil Nadu authorities to expedite the search and rescue operation.

The incident occurred on Saturday when a group of 26 students went to the seashore.

Three of them entered the waters where Mayuri Chaudhari from Nagpur drowned, while Jay Patil went missing and a search was underway for him, a statement from the Maharashtra Chief Minister's Office said.

Another student, Raj Kedari, was rescued safely, it said.

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has contacted the Tamil Nadu government and is overseeing relief efforts. He urged the Tamil Nadu government to provide immediate aid and launch a rescue operation. 

The family members of Chaudhari and Patil have been informed.
