California: Apple has initiated a rare round of job cuts within its global sales organisation, eliminating dozens of sales roles as part of a broader restructuring aimed at streamlining how it offers products to businesses, schools, and government agencies.

According to a report published by Bloomberg on Tuesday, the affected positions included account managers serving major institutions, as well as staff operating Apple’s briefing centers, which host institutional meetings and product demonstrations for prospective customers.

Employees whose roles are eliminated have until January 20, 2026, to secure another position within Apple; those who do not will be offered severance.

Apple confirmed the reshuffle but did not provide specific numbers. “To connect with even more customers, we are making some changes in our sales team that affect a small number of roles. We are continuing to hire and those employees can apply for new roles,” Bloomberg quoted a spokesperson for the Cupertino, California-based company as saying.

Although Apple rarely conducts layoffs and continues to report strong revenue, the move reportedly signals a deliberate shift in the company’s go-to-market strategy. Some affected employees suggested that Apple may rely more heavily on third-party resellers, known as the channel, to reach customers—particularly organisations that prefer indirect sellers—while potentially lowering internal costs.

Meanwhile, the broader tech industry continues to experience layoffs. Earlier this month, Amazon announced it would cut over 14,000 jobs, while Meta recently eliminated several hundred roles within its AI division.

Washington DC: The White House has reportedly ruled out the use of nuclear weapons against Iran, even as uncertainty continues over ongoing peace negotiations and a deadline set by US President Donald Trump approaches.

Issues bout a possible escalation had increased after US Vice President JD Vance said that the United States has “tools in our toolkit that we so far haven’t decided to use” in dealing with Iran.

His remarks came amid rising tensions and ahead of a deadline linked to peace efforts.

The situation has attracted attention as Trump warned Iran that its “whole civilization will die tonight tonight” if an agreement is not reached by Tuesday at 8 pm.

This statement led to speculation about the possibility of extreme military measures, including a nuclear strike.

Following Vance’s comments, the White House issued a clarification distancing itself from such interpretations. In a post on X, it said, "Literally nothing @VP said here 'implies' this, you absolute buffoons." In a later statement, it added that “only the president knows” what action will be taken regarding Iran.
