Beijing: A 64-year-old man, identified as Yang, had a 17-centimeter toothbrush lodged in his small intestine for over five decades.

Yang, visited a hospital after complaining of abdominal discomfort. During a routine examination of digestive system, medical staff discovered a 17-centimetre toothbrush lodged in one his small intestine.

Yang later recalled swallowing the toothbrush at the age of 12 accidently. Out of fear, he never told his parents and believed it would eventually dissolve or pass on its own. Medical staff called it was the longest such retrieval they had performed in the past three years.
