French ambassador begins 5-day visit to Sikkim
Gangtok (PTI): French Ambassador Thierry Mathou arrived in Sikkim on Wednesday for a five-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral engagements.
He was accompanied by his spouse, Cecil Mathou.
The ambassador was accorded a warm reception at the Rangpo Tourist Facilitation Centre by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sujata Subba.
During his stay, Mathou is scheduled to take part in a series of engagements focused on strengthening ties, officials said.

Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi loses Jorhat seat by 23,000 votes
Jorhat: Senior Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi has been defeated in the Jorhat constituency, losing by a margin of around 23,000 votes.
Gogoi, who has been one of the prominent faces of the Congress in Assam, failed to win the seat as counting concluded.
