Tel Aviv: Israel's Defence Forces spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari announced on Saturday that Israel's military had completed precision strikes on key Iranian military sites, warning that any threats to Israel would come at a “heavy price.” Hagari’s statement followed Israel’s airstrikes on locations within Iran, aiming to neutralise immediate threats to the country.
Iranian state media, quoting the Iranian air defence force, reported that while Israel's strikes targeted Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam provinces, damage was "limited," and further investigations into the incident are underway. The Iranian air defence claimed to have successfully countered the attack, stating it remains prepared for any escalation.
In a video statement, Hagari confirmed, "The Israeli Defence Forces have concluded a targeted operation against military threats from Iran. If Iran escalates further, Israel will respond decisively." He emphasised Israel’s capability and resolve to protect its citizens and counter any aggression.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry also released a statement confirming the operation, indicating that Israeli planes safely returned after completing their mission. The strikes targeted missile production facilities and air defences that pose an immediate threat to Israeli civilians, along with other strategic Iranian assets. The Ministry added that Iran had previously launched hundreds of missiles at Israel and funds hostile activities across the Middle East.
Iranian media reported explosions resembling missile attacks near Tehran and stated that Iran’s air defences were activated in response.

Ranchi: Champai Soren, a prominent figure in Jharkhand’s statehood movement, is contesting the 2024 assembly elections from Seraikela, a seat he has consistently held since 1991.
However, there is a surprising shift in his political journey this year. Having resigned from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) earlier this year, Soren is now representing the BJP, a move that could significantly impact the electoral dynamics in the state.
Soren’s switiching is seen as a strategic benefit for the saffron party, which has been working to expand its appeal among Jharkhand’s tribal communities, a demographic traditionally aligned with the JMM. His departure from the JMM, led by Shibu Soren and his son Hemant Soren, was fueled by dissatisfaction with the state government’s policies, which he claimed had failed to address tribal concerns.
Also known as "Jharkhand’s Tiger" for his instrumental role in the statehood movement of the 1990s, Champai Soren has respect and influence among tribal voters. His decision to switch the party could be a turning point in the BJP’s efforts to gain a stronger hold in a state where tribal votes often decide the outcome.
