Washington, Feb 27 (AP): President Donald Trump says Ukraine “could forget about” joining NATO military alliance as he prepares to host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House on Friday.

Trump also said Wednesday that he hopes to soon speak face to face with Russian President Vladimir Putin in hopes of reaching an agreement to end the war in Ukraine that began when Moscow invaded in February 2022.

The Republican president declined to detail what concessions he would ask the two sides to make, but he underscored his administration's position that Ukraine's aspiration to join NATO, the Western military alliance, is not tenable.

“NATO, you can forget about it,” Trump said. “I think that's probably the reason the whole thing started.”

Thiruvananthapuram (PTI): One of the first decisions taken by Kerala Chief Minister-designate V D Satheesan after being picked for the post was to limit his convoy to three vehicles, in contrast to his predecessor’s large motorcade that had drawn criticism from various quarters.

According to party sources, Satheesan has directed that only a pilot and escort vehicle should accompany his official car and people on the road should not be blocked while he travels.

His decision is a major shift from the VIP culture of ministers as well as the huge motorcade of more than 10 vehicles that was seen when Pinarayi Vijayan used to travel.

Even former Kerala CM Oommen Chandy also did not have a huge motorcade like that of Vijayan.
