Kolar: The voters of Basavanatta village on the outskirts of Kolar town watched with admiration as centurion Munivenkatappa walked with pride but without external support to the polling booth on Friday and exercised his franchise right at the age of 107 years.

Deputy Commissioner and District Returning Officer of Kolar Akram Pasha as well as the Assistant District Returning Officer Shankar Vanikyal also exercised their right to franchise during the ongoing Lok Sabha elections by casting their vote in Kolar on Friday morning.

Addressing reporters after voting at Booth No 103, the senior officers of the district called upon all eligible voters to also cast ballot to support the survival of democracy in India.

A KSRTC bus crashed into a paddy field at Sreerampura near K R Nagar in Mysuru on Monday. More than 30 passengers were injured in the accident.

The KSRTC bus was on its way to Mysuru from Saligrama. Reports state that the steering wheel of the bus broke off when it reached the spot, resulting in the accident. Among the injured passengers, many were wounded in hands and legs.

Ambulances rushed to the area to take the injured to hospital. K R Nagar police inspected the spot of the accident and registered a case in this regard, sources said.
