14 labourers injured in bridge collapse in Odisha
Rourkela (Odisha), Oct 15 : At least 14 labourers were injured, three of them seriously, when an under-construction bridge collapsed at Bonai in Sundargarh district, the police said.
The incident occurred when one of the five spans of the bridge came crashing down injuring 14 workers near Kunjipani on NH-215 on Sunday.
The span that crashed was completed on Saturday, they said.
The injured were admitted to the Bonai sub-divisional hospital and three of them with serious injuries later shifted to the Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH).
Efforts are on to ascertain the circumstances that led to the collapse of the bridge which is being constructed by the National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC), they said.

Sirens sound in Bahrain; residents urged to take shelter, drone intercepted in Saudi Arabia
Manama/Riyadh: Sirens were sounded across parts of Bahrain, with authorities urging citizens and residents to remain calm and move to the nearest safe place.
In a message posted on X, Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior said, “The siren has been sounded. Citizens and residents are urged to remain calm and head to the nearest safe place.”
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defence said a drone was intercepted and destroyed in the Al-Kharj governorate.
The developments come after Saudi Arabia’s National Early Warning Platform for Emergency Cases issued alerts warning of potential danger in the Riyadh and al-Kharj regions.
