Srinagar, Nov 10: Two unidentified militants were killed Saturday in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district, police said.

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Tikken area of Pulwama in south Kashmir after receiving a specific information about the presence of militants there, they said.

As the forces were conducting the searches, the militants fired upon them. The forces retaliated, ensuing an encounter in which two militants were killed, a police official said.

The identity and group affiliation of the slain militants are being ascertained, he said, adding that some incriminating material, including arms and ammunition, were recovered from the site of the encounter.

Bengaluru: Karnataka High Court has issued an interim stay on the FIR against Sringeri legislator DN Jeevaraj, who is accused of vote rigging.

A vacation bench consisting of Justice V Sreeshananda heard on Tuesday the BJP MLA’s plea urging the HC to quash the case against him.

After hearing the arguments, the judge granted an interim stay on the case against Jeevaraj.

The hearing of the case has been adjourned to Thursday, May 7.
