Jaipur: The body of a twenty-one-year-old medical student was found in his rented apartment on Wednesday, making it the thirteenth coaching student suicide that Kota has seen this year.
Only a week ago, Parshuram, an Uttar Pradeshi from Barsana in Mathura, moved to Kota to get ready for the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET).
Sub-inspector Gopal Lal Bairwa stated that at approximately 11.30 pm, Anoop Kumar, Parshuram's landlord, notified the police after realizing the man had not been seen for a few hours. Kumar stated that the student was drying clothes in the evening when he last saw him. He called the police after answering the door and getting no response.
When the police arrived, they found the body and called in a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to gather evidence. The body has been transferred to the MBS Hospital mortuary, and once his family members get to Kota, a post-mortem will be conducted. Though the circumstances surrounding Parshuram's suicide are still unknown, it is thought that he died by hanging. An inquiry into the event is currently in progress.
Twelve suicides have been reported in Kota this year alone. Kota is the center for coaching centers that prepare students for competitive exams like the Joint Entrance (JEE) and NEET. This incident exacerbates Kota's mounting worries about the mental health of its students. Concerns over the difficulties students endure in the demanding academic environment are urgently raised as the issue worsens despite several efforts by the Kota Police and local government to lessen student stress and prevent suicides.

Sirsi (Karnataka), Apr 8 (PTI): The police in Uttar Kannada went into a tizzy on Tuesday after they found fake currency notes of Rs 500 denomination from a house in Dandeli with 'movie shooting purpose only' written on them.
Based on a tip-off, police searched a rented house at Gandhinagar in Dandeli and confiscated the fake currency notes along with a money counting machine.
Arshad Khan, who is said to be from Goa, was staying as a tenant in the house belonging to Noorjan Jhunjuwadkar, police said.
Police were informed after Jhunjuwadkar noticed that Khan was absent from the house for the past one month.
The fake currency notes had the inscription 'Reverse Bank of India' on them, but did not have the signature of the RBI governor, police said.
The notes were printed on a shining paper with only zeros written in the place of the number, and 'movie shooting purpose only' inscribed on them, police said.
A hunt is on to trace Khan to question him about the seizure, they added.
