New Delhi: In a tragic incident from Northeast Delhi as a 26-year-old Muslim man named Israr Ahmed lost his life due to a brutal assault by unidentified individuals on suspicions of theft. According to police reports, the incident occurred in the Nand Nagri area, where Israr was accused of theft of Rs. 20.

A video of the incident, widely circulated on social media, vividly depicts Israr being restrained to a pole while several men take turns brutally beating him with sticks. In the distressing footage, Israr can be heard crying out in pain and pleading for mercy, but the attackers persistently continued their assault. 

Israr's father, Abdul Wajid, informed the police that a concerned neighbor brought his injured son home and provided details of the horrifying incident. Upon his return, Wajid discovered numerous injury marks on Israr's body.

Tragically, Israr passed away at home before they could rush him to a hospital for medical attention. The police have stated that initial investigations do not suggest a communal angle to the attack and have noted that the individuals responsible for the assault belonged to different communities.

Police officials have stated that the perpetrators will be arrested soon and that the investigation into the case was underway, media reports claimed.

Mumbai (PTI): Police have arrested a man and seized over 500 grams of heroin worth Rs 2.54 crore in the illicit market from him in Mumbai, officials said on Friday.

The police's Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) made the drug seizure in Santacruz in the western suburbs. The operation was conducted by the Kandivali unit of the ANC on Thursday as part of a special crackdown against drug trafficking in the area, they said.

Acting on specific inputs, an ANC team conducted a raid in Santacruz (East) and intercepted a man. During a search, the team recovered 508 grams of high-grade heroin from his possession, an official said.

The seized contraband, a highly addictive, opioid drug derived from morphine, is estimated to be worth Rs 2.54 crore in the international market, he informed.

Following the seizure, a case was registered against the man under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and he was formally placed under arrest in the early hours of Friday.

The police are currently investigating the source of the drug and trying to identify the intended recipients of the consignment, he said.
