Tiruchirapalli: A Sharjah bound Air India Express flight with 144 passengers, safely landed back at Tiruchirappalli airport after experiencing a hydraulic failure shortly after takeoff on Friday evening. The flight took off at 5:40 PM but soon reported the technical issue, reported NDTV.
The pilots were instructed by the Air Traffic Controllers to return to Tiruchirappalli. However, instead of landing immediately, they flew around the airport to burn fuel, as landing with a full fuel load could be risky.
As per flight tracking website, flightradar.com, the aircraft remained airborne for over two and a half hours and was circling around the same general area before finally touching down at 8:15 PM.
As a precautionary measure multiple ambulances and fire engines were put on standby at the airport.
