Patna: BJP candidate Maithili Thakur on Friday reiterated her promise to rename Alinagar as Sitanagar if she wins the Alinagar Assembly seat in the ongoing Bihar Elections 2025.

Speaking to India Today while early trends showed her leading in the constituency, Maithili stood by her campaign statement. When asked about her earlier remarks, she said that the name change was certain once she secured victory.

Maithili has been one of the closely watched candidates in this election, and her lead has revived discussion around her proposal to rename the constituency. The counting process is still underway.
