Amit Shah attacks Karnataka govt after petrol price rise
New Delhi, Jan 5: BJP president Amit Shah lashed out at the the Congress-JD(S) dispensation in Karnataka on Saturday after it hiked tax on petrol and diesel, saying why should the people pay such a heavy price for "corruption and inefficiency of the state government".
"Under the present state government in Karnataka, farmers are dying. Dalits are being enslaved. Common man is being oppressed with taxes. Why should the people of Karnataka pay such a heavy price for the corruption and inefficiency of the state government?" Shah said in a tweet.
The BJP chief's comments came a day after the Congress-JD(S) government in Karnataka raised tax rates on petrol and diesel to 32 per cent and 21 per cent respectively, citing adverse impact on the state revenue collection due to continuous fall in prices of crude oil in international market.
Shah had earlier also attacked the government over the issue of farmers suicide and a case of Dalits being allegedly enslaved.

Four dead as motorbike falls off bridge in MP's Mandla
Mandla (MP) (PTI): Four men died after their motorcycle plunged off a dilapidated bridge in Madhya Pradesh's Mandla district, police said on Sunday.
The accident occurred near Bhainswahi village at around 8 pm on Saturday, Bijadandi Police Station House Officer (SHO) Anita Kudape said.
The four men were travelling from Paudi to Bhainswahi village when their motorcycle hit a pothole on the bridge. The rider lost control, and the two-wheeler plunged below, she said.
All four sustained serious injuries and later died, the official said.
The deceased have been identified as Pramod Kumar Nareti (24), Santalal Uikey (23), Shivam Yadav (25) and Gangaram (22), the official said.
The police registered a case and were investigating the incident.
