New Delhi: The ‘X’ account of renowned economist from Austria Gunther Fehlinger-Jahn has been blocked by the Central government, following his controversial post to ‘dismantle India’.
The government disabled the economist’s account on Friday after the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) flagged the post and also directed ‘X’ administration board to withhold its access in India.
Fehlinger-Jahn had posted on his account, “I call to dismantle India into ExIndia. @narendramodi is Russia's man. We need friends of freedom for @KhalistanNet,” after Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday, during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit. Modi and Putin, in addition, had a bilateral meeting in relation to the Summit and also shared a car ride to the venue.
Further, the economist had shared a map showing almost all territories of India as belonging to Pakistan, Khalistan, Nepal and Bangladesh.
The screenshot of the map of the country, however, sparked outrage among social media users, with Fehlinger-Jahn being called a troll by many netizens, and leading the government to take action in the matter.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, expressing her anger to Fehlinger-Jahn’s post, called the remarks as ‘insane’ and asked the Ministry of External Affairs to raise the issue with the Austrian Embassy.

Noida (PTI): A 46-year-old businessman was burnt to death after his moving car caught fire in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddha Nagar district, police said on Tuesday.
According to police, the victim was identified as Rajkumar Singhal, who was engaged in the paint business. The incident occurred late on Monday night near Sorkha village under the Sector 113 police station area.
Station House Officer Krishna Gopal Sharma said Singhal was driving towards Parthala Chowk when his vehicle suddenly caught fire for reasons yet to be ascertained.
Singhal was unable to get out of the car and died in the blaze, the SHO said.
Fire tenders reached the spot after receiving information, but the car had already been gutted, police said. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination and an investigation is underway.
Police suspect the presence of paint or other inflammable material in the car may have caused the fire to spread rapidly.
