Noida: Popular post-poll survey agency, Axis My India’s managing director Pradeep Gupta on Tuesday apologized and explained on air where the exit poll went wrong, after the agency’s post-poll predictions went completely wrong.
Axis My India has projected close to 400 seats for the BJP-led NDA, however the recent ECI trends indicate that the NDA is touching the majority mark with 295 seats.
During the interaction with the India Today anchors, Gupta acknowledged the inaccuracies in their predictions, particularly in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and West Bengal. He highlighted closer matches in Rajasthan and Haryana, and accurate predictions in states like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala.
Gupta continued to explain about other states where his predictions matched the results. He also termed that the “Dalit factor played an important role in this election and Dalit people would not speak during the survey.”
Gupta became emotional on live television while discussing the election outcomes, with the India Today anchors offering consolation. Rajdeep Sardesai noted Axis My India's correct predictions in states like Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
The 2024 Lok Sabha election results defied expectations, with the NDA nearing 300 seats and the INDIA Alliance projected to secure 230 seats, indicating a closer contest than anticipated.
