Bhopal: In a significant development, Sundaram Tiwari, the district coordinator of Bajrang Dal, has been apprehended by the Crime Intelligence Team of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) on charges of drug smuggling. Sundaram, along with another individual, was caught smuggling ganja, resulting in the seizure of 22 kilograms of the illicit substance.
The RPF's Crime Intelligence Team had received specific information regarding the arrival of ganja smugglers via train in Satana. Acting on the tip-off, the police launched a search operation on the Sarnath Express train, targeting the suspects and their illegal cargo. Upon conducting their investigation, the police identified five individuals who appeared suspicious. However, as the police approached them, the suspects hastily disembarked from the train and attempted to flee the scene.
Despite their attempts to evade capture, two individuals were successfully apprehended by the police following an extensive investigation. The main accused in the case, Sundaram Tiwari, who holds the position of district coordinator within the Bajrang Dal organization, was among those arrested. Law enforcement authorities have revealed that Tiwari has been involved in drug smuggling activities for an extended period.
Meanwhile, the three remaining individuals managed to escape and are currently being pursued by the police. These absconding suspects are reported to be natives of Banaras in Uttar Pradesh. The ongoing police investigation aims to ascertain their identities and whereabouts in order to bring them to justice.
The arrest of Sundaram Tiwari, a prominent figure within the Bajrang Dal, has raised concerns and sparked discussions about the involvement of right-wing organizations in illicit activities as several people questioned the right-wing organisation to clear its stance on the case and the involvement of one of their leaders in drugs smuggling case.

Faridabad (PTI): A woman allegedly killed her 18-month-old child - her sixth daughter - by throwing her into a drain in Faridabad, claiming she committed the crime as she was unable to take care of her family due to poverty, according to police.
The incident occurred near Dheeraj Nagar on April 23 when the girl's body was found stuck in an iron mesh along a drain by two school children, the police said on Sunday, adding the body was retrieved and sent for a postmortem.
A Crime Branch team, which was probing the case, found CCTV footage showing the girl's mother carrying her in her arms in the area. She then returned alone. The police took the woman into custody, and during questioning, she confessed to throwing the girl into the drain, they said.
The infant died of drowning.
The accused was identified as Neelam, a native of Madhubani in Bihar. She lived in Faridabad with her husband Sanjay, who works in a private firm, the police said.
A senior investigating officer said that during interrogation, the woman said that the deceased was the youngest of her six daughters and that she was driven to commit the crime due to poverty.
"She revealed that her family's financial situation was extremely poor, and with six daughters, she was unable to raise them properly," the officer said.
Police spokesperson Yashpal said they are investigating the matter and the entire picture will be clear soon.
