Patna: Eight people including a Bajrang Dal member surrendered before police on March 30 in cases related to communal violence in Biharsharif in Nalanda district during the Ram Navami procession.
On Saturday morning, just hours before the police were set to begin the process of attaching his property, Kundan Kumar, who served as the district convenor of Bajrang Dal in Nalanda district, surrendered to the authorities.
After surrendering, Kundan Kumar was questioned by senior police officials. Speaking to the media, he claimed that he had been booked because he was the organizer of the Ram Navami procession.
Kundan Kumar asserted that he had already submitted a petition to the local district authority seeking permission for the Ram Navami procession. He went on to blame the police for the disruptions that occurred during the event.
Kundan Kumar further stated that if the police had made sufficient security arrangements, the incident could have been prevented. He deemed it a clear failure on the part of the police. He expressed his confidence in the judiciary system to deliver justice.
In Araria district, another individual identified as Pappu Miyan surrendered himself to the Forbesganj police. He is currently being questioned by senior police official.
A senior police officer involved in the investigation confirmed that Pappu Miyan will be brought to Biharsharif after questioning. According to Ashok Mishra, the superintendent of police in Nalanda, eight out of the nine named suspects in the case have turned themselves in. The police are currently conducting raids to arrest the final suspect.
Additionally, Mishra stated that they are hopeful that the final suspect will surrender within the next day or two.
after incidents of stone pelting, arson, and firing caused disruptions in Biharsharif and Sasaram, normalcy has since been restored. On Saturday, internet services were reinstated.
Shops and business establishments have reopened, and people have resumed their daily activities. Members of the minority communities were seen offering 'namaz' at their local mosques.
J S Gangwar, the Additional Director General of Police, has reported that no untoward incidents have been reported from the previously troubled areas of Nalanda and Rohtas districts.
Previously, in Biharsharif, one person was killed, and multiple individuals were injured due to incidents of stone pelting, firing, and arson. The procession was attacked by members of another community. In Sasaram, a young man who had been injured during the disturbance later passed away at a hospital in Varanasi, located in the neighbouring state of Uttar Pradesh.

Chasing a modest 156, LSG suffered a batting collapse and managed to tie the contest and take it to Super Over with No. 9 Mohammed Shami striking a last-ball six against a wayward Kartik Tyagi, who leaked 16 runs in the final over.
But Sunil Narine bowled a stunning Super Over conceding just one run and taking two wickets to give KKR an easy target.
Rinku Singh then finished the chase with a boundary off first ball from Prince Yadav.
