Bihar Elections 2025: Counting of votes begins as NDA, Mahagathbandhan brace for high-stakes battle
Patna: The Election Commission of India began the counting of votes in Bihar on Friday, starting with postal ballots.
Bihar recorded a historic 67.13% turnout in the two-phase election to its 243-member assembly on November 6 and 11, as women outnumbered men at the polls, voting 71.78% to 62.98%.
According to the ECI, this is the first time in recent history that no discrepancies or malpractices were found at any polling station after scrutiny, and no repolls have been recommended.

Minor girl kidnapped and raped; main accused and two cafe owners held
Latur (PTI): A minor girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by an 18-year-old man in Latur, leading to the arrest of the main accused and owners of two cafes where the crime occurred on December 4, police said on Saturday.
Police traced the girl within hours of registering the complaint. The accused, identified as Rihan Gulab Shaikh, was arrested based on the girl's complaint. Two others are owners of two cafes where the crime occurred, police said.
Police registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), POCSO Act, and the Prevention of Atrocities Act, an official said.
