Kochi: BJP’s Kerala Vice President C. Krishnakumar, a prominent Hindutva figure from Palakkad district, is facing serious sexual assault allegations made by a relative. In her complaint to BJP Kerala President Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the survivor alleged that Krishnakumar assaulted her several years ago.
The complainant stated that she had also approached the RSS state office in Elamakkara and submitted her grievance to senior leaders including Gopalankutty Master, V. Muraleedharan, M.T. Ramesh, and Subhash, who was then Organisation General Secretary. According to her, the leaders assured strict action, but no steps were taken and her complaint was ignored, leaving her feeling humiliated and abandoned.
The complaint further mentions allegations against Congress MLA Rahul Mankootathil and asserts that Krishnakumar lacked the moral authority to lead protests against him. She demanded his expulsion from the BJP.
Krishnakumar has refuted the charges, claiming that the issue was related to a property dispute involving his wife’s sister. He alleged that the case was fabricated as part of a Congress-led conspiracy, possibly involving former BJP leader and current Congress spokesperson Sandeep G. Varier.
Responding to this, Sandeep Varier dismissed Krishnakumar’s claim, stating, “This is not a property dispute, it is outright property grabbing.” He pointed out that the Prime Minister’s Office had ordered an investigation against Krishnakumar on April 22, 2025, which is still ongoing in the SP’s office. He clarified that the sexual harassment case was not acquitted, contrary to Krishnakumar’s claims.
Varier praised the survivor’s courage, highlighting that she studied law and became a lawyer to fight her own case. He also demanded action against Krishnakumar for revealing her identity, stressing that she continues to face harassment and slut-shaming on social media. “If she has come out to fight, it is the responsibility of Kerala to stand with her,” Varier said.
He further questioned whether the BJP would act against a core committee member, as the Congress did in the case of Rahul Mankootathil, who was suspended after facing multiple sexual harassment allegations.
The Congress in Kerala has strongly criticised the BJP following the allegations. The BJP state president’s office confirmed receipt of the complaint, with Rajeev Chandrasekhar stating that action would be considered upon his return from Bengaluru.
Meanwhile, BJP workers have rallied in support of Krishnakumar, dismissing the allegations as a “bomb that never went off,” echoing Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan’s remark. Posters defending Krishnakumar have also appeared in Palakkad.
The controversy has further escalated political tensions in Kerala, coming at a time when the BJP has been campaigning against Congress MLA Rahul Mankootathil over sexual harassment allegations.
