Tirupati: BJP leader and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) member Bhanu Prakash Reddy has alleged that over ₹100 crore was stolen from the parakamani (donation box) of the Tirupati temple during the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSR Congress regime between 2019 and 2024.
Reddy released CCTV footage purportedly showing temple staffer Ravikumar siphoning off cash. He claimed the looted funds were diverted into real estate investments and a portion was allegedly funneled to Jagan Reddy’s residence, Tadepalli Palace.
The BJP leader described it as the “biggest loot” in the temple’s history and accused several YSRCP leaders and senior officials of being complicit. He alleged that even a key police officer played a role in enabling the scam.
Reddy further revealed that the Andhra Pradesh High Court had ordered the transfer of the case to the CID, directing a sealed-cover investigation report within a month. He said crucial documents and board decisions have been seized for scrutiny.
The footage was also shared by TDP leader Nara Lokesh on social media, drawing sharp political attention.
Reddy alleged that the case was earlier compromised through Lok Adalat proceedings, and claimed that evidence had been destroyed to shield powerful figures. He also sought a response from former TTD chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, who held the position during the alleged scam.
He hinted that an officer involved may soon come forward with a confession, potentially exposing further details of what he called a “₹100-crore temple scam.”
