Chamba: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Hans Raj, a former deputy speaker of the Himachal Pradesh assembly, is embroiled in controversy as the Chamba police have registered a sexual harassment case against him. The case follows allegations from a 20-year-old woman, the daughter of a BJP worker, who claimed that Raj sent her obscene messages via WhatsApp and demanded nude photographs.
The case was registered under sections 75 (sexual harassment by demanding sexual favors, showing pornography, or making sexually colored remarks) and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the BNS. The woman also accused Raj and his supporters of pressuring her to delete the incriminating chats and threatening her family.
The Chamba Superintendent of Police, Abhishek Yadav, confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and that the MLA would be required to join the inquiry as per procedure.
