BJP's Hindutuva selfish & hollow, its neo-Hindutvavadis creating pre-partition like atmosphere: Sena
Mumbai, Apr 12: The Shiv Sena on Tuesday hit out at former ally BJP, claiming its Hindutva is selfish and hollow and that the saffron party's "neo-Hindutvavadis" were creating a pre-partition like atmosphere in the country.
An editorial in the Sena mouthpiece 'Saamana' also claimed that the BJP has nothing to do with Hindutva and has no other agenda than creating a rift between Hindus and Muslims.
Taking a dig at the BJP, the Marathi daily said if by playing 'Hanuman Chalisa' (Hindu devotional hymn) the Chinese soldiers in the Galwan Valley are going to step back, then it is fine.
Will the issue of addressing problems of Kashmiri Pandits, unemployment be resolved by playing 'Hanuman Chalisa' outside mosques, the party asked.
It is clear that the BJP's Hindutva is selfish and hollow. The doubt, that to win polls these people have a role to orchestrate riots and create rift, is getting stronger, it said.

Notably, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray recently demanded that loudspeakers at mosques be shut down and said if this is not stopped, "there will be speakers outside mosques playing 'Hanuman Chalisa' at higher volume".
Referring to the recent clashes between student groups at the Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi allegedly over serving of non-vegetarian food in the mess on Ram Navami on Sunday, the Sena editorial said the BJP is trying to divert attention from issues like inflation and unemployment.

Hijab decision taken out of fear of Karnataka Muslim convention, alleges Kumaraswamy
Bengaluru: Union Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy has alleged that the Karnataka government announced its decision on the hijab issue out of fear of the ‘Karnataka Muslim Convention’ scheduled to be held in Bengaluru on May 16 organized by Federation of Karnataka Muslim Organisations.
Addressing a press conference at the JD(S) state office, GP Bhavan, in Bengaluru on Thursday, Kumaraswamy said he respects all religions and has expressed his views on the issue on several public platforms in the past.
Questioning the timing of the government’s move, he said the Congress has been in power for three years and had taken no decision on the hijab issue during that period.
He alleged that the decision was taken only because the ‘Karnataka Muslim Convention’ is scheduled to be held at Town Hall in Bengaluru on May 16.
“If the government had the courage, it should have taken this decision immediately after coming to power. Why did it remain silent for three years?” he asked.
Kumaraswamy accused the Congress of making the announcement to appease a particular community.
He further said the matter is still pending before the courts and claimed that an interim order relating to the hijab issue remains in force.
According to him, issuing such an order before the legal proceedings are concluded amounts to disrespect towards the judiciary.
Kumaraswamy also alleged that the Congress brought the issue back into focus after the Davanagere by-election results.
