Much is being talked about Congress leader, Navjot Singh Sidhu ever since his comments on initiating dialogues with Pakistan, post Pulwama attacks.
His comments called for unwarranted controversy and eventually led to his sacking from popular comedy show, ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ where he was replaced by actress Archana Puran Singh.
His sacking from the show came after netizens called for boycotting the show, unless they sack the Congress leader for his comments.
"Wherever wars are fought and such things (Pulwama-type attack) happen, dialogue also continues simultaneously. There is a need to find a permanent solution (to issues between India and Pakistan). Such people (terrorists) have no religion, no country and no caste,” Sidhu had said after Pulwama attacks.
However, on Monday, Kapil Sharma addressed the media over the controversy and termed the whole episode as ‘Deviation from the real issue’.
Sharma went on to say that by using these as the weapons, the minds of youths are being diverted from the real and core issues.
He said “If by sacking Sidhuji, the issue will be resolved, then I believe Sidhuji himself will step down. These are the attempts of diverting the minds of youth from the real issues. We should focus on what the real issues are”.
Many have also supported the statement by the comedian and have lauded him for taking a stand on the issue.
Nevertheless, the statement from Sharma has also resulted in backlash, against him with people (mostly right wing) now calling for boycotting of his show for supporting Sidhu.
#BoycottKapilSharma was the top trend this morning with Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Delhi, asking people to unsubscribe Sony TV.
