New Delhi: The Delhi Police has asked the court to summon Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, Chief of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and the witnesses based on the investigations carried out so far in connection with the complaints by the six wrestlers, according to the chargesheet reviewed by The Indian Express.

Singh was “liable to be prosecuted and punished for offences of sexual harassment, molestation and stalking,” the report added.

“The accused may please be summoned to face trial and witnesses named in the list of witnesses appended with the chargesheet may be called for their examination along with documents mentioned with their names,” the chargesheet stated, as reported by The Indian Express.

The complainants have alleged 15 incidents of sexual harassment which include several instances of inappropriate touching and stalking. The chargesheet mentioned that the investigators spoke to 108 witnesses out of which 15 validated the allegations made by the wrestlers. A chargesheet, dated June 13, has pointed out that Singh’s harassment in one case was “repeated and continuing”.

However, Singh has asserted that he had never met the wrestlers and further denied all the allegations during his questioning by the police.

Meanwhile, when wrestlers flagged allegations of sexual harassment against Singh in February before the Oversight Committee set up by the government, the body did not recommended police action in its report which was sent to to the Sports Ministry in April. These are the same allegations on which the Delhi Police found Singh liable to be prosecuted and punished.
