Dhanbad: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday clarified that actor-turned-politician Mithun Chakraborty’s wallet, which had sparked claims of being stolen during a rally in Jharkhand, was not stolen but misplaced and later found.

The incident occurred during Chakraborty's visit to the Nirsa assembly constituency, where he was campaigning in support of BJP candidate Aparna Sengupta.

A video circulating on social media had shown a party member asking the crowd to return Chakraborty’s wallet after it was reported missing. However, BJP's Dhanbad district president, Ghanshyam Grover, dismissed the theft allegations. "There was no such incident of pickpocketing. The purse was misplaced and later found," Grover told PTI.

Chakraborty has been at the center of multiple controversies, including two FIRs filed against him for allegedly making provocative statements during a BJP event in Salt Lake area near Kolkata last month.

Vote counting for the elections in Jharkhand is scheduled for November 23.
