CBSE announces UGC-NET results
New Delhi, July 31: The Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) on Tuesday declared UGC-National Eligibility Test (NET) results, the test for which was conducted on July 8 across 91 cities in the country.
According to a statement issued by the CBSE, a total of 11,48,235 candidates had registered for the examination, out of whom over 85,000 appeared and 55,872 qualified to be eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor.
A total of 3,929 candidates emerged eligible to apply for both Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship. The examination was conducted in 84 subjects.
There was a change this time in the number of papers, where instead of three there were only two papers.
As per the University Grants Commission (UGC) policy, six per cent of those who appear in both papers and obtain minimum qualification marks in both papers' aggregate are declared NET qualified.

UP constable's wife ends life after posting Instagram video on in-laws' harassment
Lucknow, Jul 27 (PTI): The wife of a constable posted at Bakshi ka Talab police station in Uttar Pradesh has committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan in the house, police said on Sunday.
They said the matter came to light through a video she posted on Instagram.
"On Sunday, it was learnt through an Instagram video that Saumya Kashyap committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan in the house. Saumya is the wife of constable Anurag Singh, who is currently posted in Eagle Mobile at Bakshi Ka Talab station," the police said in a statement.
In the video Saumya posted before her death, she talked about her in-laws trying to get her husband married for the second time and her brother-in-law threatening to kill her, the statement said.
Police said they have informed the deceased's family, who have left from their Mainpuri house.
"On receipt of their complaint, a case will be registered and necessary action will be taken," the statement said.
