Bengaluru, December 24: KPCC president Dinesh Gundurao said that after the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, ministers functioning would be evaluated and later, changes would be made in the Cabinet.

Speaking to reporters at the party office here on Monday, he said that the Cabinet was expanded keeping in mind the social justice, regional equality and priority to all communities. “Former minister Ramalinga Reddy is our party senior leader. He has contributed a lot to the party. In the coalition government, only few could be accommodated in the Cabinet. But in coming days, others would also get opportunity. He expressed his dissatisfaction for not inducting into the Cabinet. He has not given statement against the party. I would discuss with him and all differences would be solved soon”, he said.

Ramesh Jarakiholi was dropped from the Cabinet and his brother Sathish Jarakiholi was inducted into the Cabinet. Due to his personal reasons, he was not coming to the Cabinet meeting. He has not toured the state. Being the district minister, he has not conducted the progress review of development works, he said.

“I and Ramesh Jarakiholi are colleagues since Youth Congress. He was elected as MLA for five times and became minister for two times. The Congress has given all to him. But the party has not done anything injustice. I would discuss with both of them”, he said.

After discussing with AICC general secretary and state Congress Incharge KC Venugopal, portfolios would be distributed to the newly inducted ministers, Dinesh Gundurao.

Bengaluru: The Karnataka government on Wednesday withdrew its 2022 order banning wearing hijab in classrooms and has issued a fresh order permitting students to wear a ‘limited traditional and practice-based symbols’.

According to the Deccan Herald, the preceding BJP government had, in February 2022, banned students from wearing hijab to classrooms, giving rise to a controversy as some Muslim girls were prevented from attending classes since their dress was not in accordance with the uniforms of the institutions. The BJP government also insisted that the girls follow the uniform prescribed by the schools or colleges they were studying in.

Further, in March 2022, the High Court upheld the government order, stating that wearing hijab was not an essential practice in Islam. The Supreme Court, however, delivered a split verdict in October the same year.

The present decision of the state government follows strong objections raised by leaders of the Muslim community when the Congress did not give the Davanagere bypoll ticket to a Muslim candidate.

The leaders reminded the party that the hijab issue remained unresolved although it was three years since the party came to power.
