New Delhi (PTI): The Delhi Police has arrested a Chinese woman for staying in India under a false identify and allegedly indulging in "anti-national activities", officials said on Thursday.

The woman has been identified as Cai Ruo and is a native of Hainan province in China, they said on Thursday. She was residing in India as a Nepalese citizen and was detained from Majnu ka Tila in north Delhi, police said.

During verification, a Nepalese citizenship certificate in the name of Dolma Lama was recovered from her. However, when inquired with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office, it was found that she is a Chinese citizen and had travelled to India in 2019, they said.

On the basis of information that Ruo is involved in "anti-national activities" and presently residing in India as Nepalese citizen, she was detained from Majnu Ka Tila, a Delhi Police statement said.

A case has been registered against her on October 17 under section 120 B (criminal conspiracy), 419 (cheating by personation), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 467 (forgery of valuable security) and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Foreigners Act, police said.

Further investigation is underway, they said.

New Delhi: A 40-year-old bakery owner allegedly died by suicide at his residence in northwest Delhi's Model Town on Tuesday. His family members claimed that he was harassed by his wife and in-laws, and before taking the extreme step, he recorded a video detailing the harassment he had endured.

The deceased, identified as Puneet Khurana, lived with his family in Kalyan Vihar. According to Khurana's family, he was upset with his estranged wife and business partner Manika Pahwa, whom he married in 2016. The couple co-owned the For God's Cake bakery and an eatery called Woodbox Cafe, which closed a while ago.

The couple was undergoing divorce proceedings in court.

"Manika Pahwa, her parents and her sister forced my brother, stressed him out and instigated him by saying, 'you can't do anything, die by suicide if you dare'. There is a video recording shot by him for around 59 minutes on his phone," Khurana's sister told news agency ANI.

The purported audio clip of a conversation between the couple went viral, revealing an argument over business. "In the clip, the man claims that his account was hacked, but the woman denies this. She then claims that she remains his business partner and demands that he settles the dues. The conversation also touches on other business-related disagreements," an officer was qouted as saying by Times of India.

Additionally, the woman alleged that her husband repeatedly disgraced her and her family, but when confronted, he asked her to specify what she wanted.

Police have initiated an investigation and already sent Khurana's phone for forensic examination.

A lengthy Instagram post, reportedly from the woman, alleged that she had suffered "toxicity and narcissistic" abuse. However, the handle was later deleted. The woman said that she was "healing well" and "striving to be better and indifferent" after the abuses.

"Even a house help, guard, rikshawala, a tiny kid deserves respectful treatment. Once a coward fought with me that 'respect has to be earned'. Ufff! What disgrace na? I disagree, respect has to be given to each and everyone. If not then you lost the respect baby. Phew! Maybe that's why in India, we address people with aap, bhaiya, didi to even strangers, isn't it?," she asked.

She mentioned, "I wish these abusers get to see the mirror someday and understand that kindness, love, understanding, trust, wisdom, affection, and care are true virtues and hold much more importance than money, property, and gold". Adding, "Let's pray that no one else suffers because of a group of insecure cowards," the woman said, "I am free, and the beautiful ruins are a part of me".

DCP North West Delhi Bhisham Singh mentioned that the victim hanged himself with a cloth and his family took him down and kept his body on the bed.

A post-mortem will be conducted and the report is expected to come by Friday.
