Bengaluru: Marking the 77th Independence Day, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah raised the flag at Manik Shah Maidan in Bengaluru. Following the flag hoisting, the Chief Minister observed the parade from an open jeep. Prior to this event, Siddaramaiah was also part of the flag hoisting ceremony held at the KPCC office.
Addressing the gathering, he stated, "Direct cash assistance programs can offer an effective solution for poverty alleviation. In line with this, our government is executing the 'Gruha Lakshmi' scheme. The registration process has already commenced, and starting from August 27, the initiative of transferring Rs. 2000 per month to women's accounts will commence. Presently, 1.08 crore families' heads have registered."
Siddaramaiah emphasized that these government-backed guarantee schemes are poised to bring substantial positive changes to the lives of both impoverished and middle-class households. He added that these schemes are being executed without any discrimination based on caste, creed, class, or caste.

New Delhi: The countdown has begun for the counting of votes for the Assembly elections in five states that have captured the attention of people across the country.
The counting of votes for the Assembly constituencies of West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam and the Union Territory of Puducherry will begin simultaneously at 8 am, and the fate of candidates in a total of 824 constituencies will be decided shortly.
The counting of postal ballots will take place first, followed by the counting of EVM votes in several rounds.
